Back to School
Well, once again, summer is coming to a close. That means prepping my room at school for the little stinkers! j/k ;)
Well, I got moved to a new room. When I arrived on Tuesday, hoping to set up, all my stuff had already been moved. I was ecstatic- the room was larger and nicer than my old one. But it wouldn't last long- I soon found out I might have to move back to my old room again, to make room for another Kinder classroom. So I headed home, hoping to get to work in the morning once they had decided where my music room would be.
Went back this morning and found out I had to move again. My principal gave me a choice of other rooms and I chose a different new one! Well, to make a long story short, I couldn't move in yet since the custodians needed to move all my furniture into the new room.
Well, since I couldn't move in and organize, I've been coming up with some decorations for the classroom. Working on some ceiling decorations, labels and centers. I'll post photos as soon as I finish.

Garage Sale Finds
Based on the success I had rummage selling in Michigan with my mom and sis, I decided to give it a try here in the Rio Grande Valley. (See photo above) Even though I had tried to find treasures before in south Texas rummage sales, without any luck, I was determined to try again.
I set off driving down Bentsen Rd, and ended up in the Sharyland area. My first few stops were failures, one sale had a lot of fabric but wanted a lot of money for it too! The rest were junk! :(
Finally I arrived to a little nicer neighborhoods, and jackpot!! I found some great deals on some good stuff- you might find some of it on Etsy in the next couple of weeks. Lots of crafty items: some large metal keys, feather boa and some vintage buttons!
My favorite find of the day was a scrabble set for $1, which of course, I only wanted for the scrabble tiles! I've seen so much on Etsy made out of tiles, I plan to keep some for myself for a craft, and sell the rest on etsy.
See the photos below for my Garage Sale finds of the day:

The Reason for Blogging

Okay, so here goes, my first blog. I didn't really get what blogs were about until recently.
I spent some time searching online for craft ideas, and kept stumbling upon various craft blogs.
They turned out to be very intriguing and very informative.
Looking at a blog about describing how to make paper beads I quickly found another interesting weblink, which once clicked on yielded yet another, and another interesting site. I became quite obsessed with perusing these craft blogs for several days. I easily found a dozen environmentally friendly and inexpensive crafts!
The real reason, I found, for these blogs, is to network. Social networking is increasingly the way to communicate, 24/7 with not only nationally, but internationally! You can quickly and easily find others who share your interests, literally within minutes.
It is THE way to promote yourself, your products, and your services. For the struggling artist, blogging, twitter, and facebooking seems the way to go. Not too mention that it can be fun too! :)
This leads me to another topic. I want to get the word out about an awesome artist/jewelry maker, my sister, Katie, AKA. "Blingismything." Ever since she was little she was into every sort of art/craft imaginable. She was known for being unique and she never wanted to copy anyone else- her work HAD to be HER OWN idea.
Well, she is still continuing in this unique, driven way with her jewelry. For about 5 years now, she has been making and selling her OOAK, crafty jewelry. Recently she has been participating in craft shows and selling on Etsy. I really suggest you check her out!

Her most unique and interesting jewelry is her bottlecap collection, featuring vintage bottlecaps made into funky and fun pieces. She also has a new felted bead line.
Visit her site and let me know what you think...
